Circolarità 04

The following project was conceived during the second semester of the master in 2023 under the supervision of Professor Michele Arnaboldi. The project is located in the town of Lodrino, in the Riviera valley in Switzerland. The design theme was the drone, vehicle. Lodrino, however small, is unique due to the presence of the only aerodrome in Switzerland that allows drones to fly. In addition to the fact that there is one of the centers for the prototyping and testing of drones. Before 1900, Lodrino was famous for its production of glass objects, hence the idea for the project. We have repurposed local glass production into a new vision, the creation of fiberglass drone components. The project presents itself as a ring intersected in the rock face of the mountain. On the ground floor inside the mountain there is the warehouse of raw materials and finished products while on the first floor there are the production part, inside the mountain, and the offices positioned on an overhanging bridge structure. The decision to create a circular building that fits into the mountain is not only a symbolic decision but above all a physical one. Fiberglass requires constant temperatures and humidity with few fluctuations throughout the day. The mountain itself guarantees these conditions, and through the use of this alternative it was possible to remove an entire useless part of the plant.
